Can’t I Just Use AI to Do What You Do? 😳

One of DtBW community founding members asked a question about AI that a lot of us Virtual Assistants will be experiencing more often as this new technology advances.
Some people believe AI is about to replace human jobs entirely. Others (like us in the group) see it for what it is - another tool.
When a client asks, “Can’t I Just Use AI to Do What You Do?” my response is simple:
“Nothing will ever beat human connection. And do you have the TIME to learn AI effectively to teach it how to do what you need it to do? (which takes hours upon hours of prompting and errors). If, YES, sure AI can help with some tasks. Good luck. Have a nice day. " 😆
That questions is essentially another form of haggling and I am not a street fair vendor selling old VHS tapes.
We don't haggle. Our price is our price. 😉
🚨 Here's my full take ⤵️
1️⃣ AI Needs a Human to Direct It – AI doesn’t think for itself. It only works as well as the prompts it’s given. If you don’t know how to structure detailed, high-quality commands, you’ll get vague, low-impact results.
2️⃣ Time Investment – Do you have the time (or patience) to learn AI tools inside out? AI appears plug-and-play, but to get the really best out of it, it requires training, fine-tuning and constant adjustments to work effectively. Plus since it's new you have to keep up with the releases.
3️⃣ Generic, Repetitive Output - I'm able to spot AI-generated content a mile away. It sounds like everyone else because it's pulling from the entire internet. If you want unique, engaging and brand-aligned messaging, a human training it is non-negotiable.
4️⃣ Lack of Strategic Thinking - AI doesn’t understand nuance, your brand’s voice, or your client’s emotions. You bring critical thinking, problem-solving and real-time adaptability.
5️⃣ No Relationship-Building - AI can’t read the room, build rapport or personalize interactions the way a human can. Business is built on trust and relationships.
6️⃣ Errors & Misinformation - AI doesn’t fact-check itself. It can generate wrong or outdated information with complete confidence. As a VA who uses AI it's your job to ensure accuracy and do quality control.
AI is Only as Good as the Prompts You Feed It
If you just tell AI to “write a social media caption” you’ll get something bland and typical. But if you know how to give high-level commands, you can get content that actually works.
🛑 Write an Instagram caption for a business post about time management.
✅ Generate three Instagram captions for a business coach targeting female solopreneurs who are moms in their 30s-40s that struggle with time management. Each caption should have a different tone: (1) motivational, (2) educational with a productivity hack, and (3) relatable with a storytelling angle. Include a compelling hook, an engaging body and a CTA that encourages the person to click on my link to sign up for my newsletter. Limit each to 125 words and optimize for engagement using a mix of short and punchy sentences.
🔥 This is what separates basic AI users from advanced prompters. AI doesn’t replace humans. It helps with strategy, and can execute all sorts of tasks when directed properly. And most business owners don’t have time to figure this out.
That’s where a skilled VA with AI study comes in.
