Do You Really Need a Website as a VA?

Short Answer: No, you don’t need a website to start as a Virtual Assistant.

For 10 years, I ran my VA business without one. While a website can be a great tool, it’s not essential when you’re just starting out.

Instead, focus on what matters most: building relationships and showcasing your value.

The Pros of a Website:

  • Credibility: Helps you look professional for higher-paying clients.

  • 24/7 Marketing: Showcases your services, portfolio, and testimonials—even when you’re offline.

  • Scalability: Great for expanding or selling digital products later.

The Cons of a Website:

  • Not Essential: Clients care about results, not your website. Warm networks and social media work just fine.

  • Time & Cost: Designing and maintaining one can drain resources early on.

  • Potential Distraction: Perfecting a website often delays client outreach.

Start simple: Use LinkedIn, Instagram, or a polished PDF portfolio to showcase your work.

Canva even offers easy landing page options.

Build a website when it aligns with your growth, but don’t let the lack of one hold you back.
