The 2-Hour Workday is Bullshit
Let’s talk real expectations about building a Virtual Assistant business, because if you think you’re clocking out after two hours, you’re in for a rude awakening.
The Beginning is Hustle Mode
When you’re first starting ANY business [your clients feel this, too] you’re doing everything -finding clients/customers, marketing yourself, setting up systems, figuring out pricing, learning new tools and actually doing the work. The 2-Hour Workday is Bullshit
It’s a lot.
And no, it’s not a 2-hour workday.
Clients Expect You to be Available All the Time
This is 100% avoidable with the right communication upfront. But in the beginning, most clients expect their VA to be responsive at all hours. If you’re working with multiple clients, that means juggling deadlines, emails and follow-ups throughout the day.
Does the 2-Hour Workday Exist?
I guess it can. But that means that you're eventually hiring contractors, pitching services, reviewing work, submitting edits, managing clients feedback, there is still a lot of hands on work to be done even when you set up a VA agency. Getting anywhere near a 2-hour work day will take a LOT of your time in the beginning. Strategic pricing, retainer clients, automation and outsourcing—all things that take time and experience to build.
The Trade-Off: Flexibility > Freedom
The beauty of VA work is flexibility - you choose your clients, your schedule and how you work. But that doesn’t mean no work. It means you can prioritize what works for you while still putting in the hours.
So, if your goal is to work less and earn more, focus on building systems, increasing your rates and creating predictable income. But be real - this isn’t an overnight thing and this definitely isn't a passive or 2 hour work day thing.
