I'm Chastity Cortijo, a communications specialist, virtual assistant, and the founder of Do The Boring Work.
I've spent 15 years on both sides of the VA industry. As the person doing the work. As the business owner hiring for it. And now as the person teaching women how to build a sustainable remote service business using skills they already have.
Boring work" is what I call the back office admin work every business needs done but nobody wants to do - the emails, the scheduling, the invoicing, the follow-ups, the systems.
The unglamorous stuff that keeps businesses running!
Before any of this, I worked in investment banking and corporate marketing. Prudential Securities, Salomon Smith Barney, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, GroupM, CafeMom. I know what professional operations look like from the inside. I know what it means to show up with precision, manage competing priorities, and keep complex things moving without dropping anything.
That background is exactly why I built DtBW.
When I transitioned into the VA world, I kept meeting women who were capable, experienced, and completely stuck. Not because they lacked skills, they had plenty.
They were stuck because nobody had shown them how to package what they already knew into something they could charge for.
So I built the thing I wished existed when I was starting out.
Do The Boring Work is a 13-week self guided program and supportive community for women who want to build a remote service business from scratch. We cover everything, what to offer, what to charge, how to find clients, how to onboard them, and how to keep them. Step by step, week by week, with me working alongside you directly.
This is not a content library you buy and forget. This is a real program with real accountability and a real person - me - in your corner until you land your first paying client.
What I believe:
Every woman who has ever worked already has skills worth selling. The scheduling, the emails, the follow-ups, the systems, the client management. You've been doing boring work your whole career. You just haven't been charging for it on your own terms yet.
I also believe the VA who embraces technology isn't going away. They're becoming more valuable. AI isn't replacing the human who knows how to use it - it's replacing the human who refuses to learn.
The businesses that will always need us most are the community-based ones. The local plumber. The therapist. The realtor. The contractor. The ones built on relationships and trust. They need a real person who understands their business, manages their tools, and keeps things running behind the scenes.
That person is you.
Boring Work is the back office admin that every business needs done - whether it's a tech conglomerate or a mom and pop plumbing shop. Somebody has to manage the calendar, send the invoices, follow up with the leads, and keep the wheels turning. Even in a world run by AI, someone has to operate it.
