Why did so many women decide to become Virtual Assistants?

I ran a poll in a few groups and the responses hit me.

These weren’t just generic answers like “I wanted to work from home.” The stories were deep, specific, and incredibly relatable.

One mom shared how she had two babies under 14 months and realized daycare costs would bury her paycheck. Another woman hit burnout in her 9-5 after spending $350 a month on gas, coffees, and lunches just to stay afloat.

A former teacher said her life changed when her baby was born prematurely. She quit teaching, started helping a friend’s business, and realized she could make this work.

And one that really stuck with me, someone in her 40s who got laid off and decided, “Screw it. I have the skills, I’ll build something for myself.”

As of this post 38 women responded and this is how it looked:

• Flexibility & Family Time

• Escape from Burnout or Commute

• Financial Independence

• Health or Life Circumstances

• Pursuing a Dream

These women made a choice. Actually they decided.

For most it was a necessity. It was about survival.

They took what they had, their skills, their experience, their drive, and built something for themselves.

If you’re wondering if this path is for you, ask yourself: What’s my why? Is it your kids? Your health? A fresh start after 40?

Your “why” doesn’t need to be unique, but it has to be clear.

Because when things get hard (and they will), your “why” is what keeps you going.
