80% of Women in the U.S. Workforce
Have Jobs HIGHLY Threatened by A.I.
Jobs Held by Mostly Women Are the First to Go
I need you to re-read that headline and let that sink in.
I was listening to an interesting debate about the consequences of AI in professional sectors. I’ve always known AI would affect many jobs, but the extent to which it impacts women-dominated professions really caught me off guard.
To quote Corporate Sister from March 2025:
"Recent research by the University of North Carolina estimates that 80% of women in the U.S. workforce are in professional occupations highly threatened by AI automation. The most AI-exposed occupations with the highest percentages of women include account and bill collectors, payroll clerks, executive secretaries, typists and word processors, as well as bookkeepers, auditing, and accounting clerks. In general, AI mostly impacts administration, healthcare, education, and social services—sectors with higher proportions of women. More recently, the 2023 World Economic Forum Future of Jobs report predicts a 27% drop in jobs such as cashiers, administrators, payroll clerks, and secretaries."
So, what does this mean for us?
We need to stay ahead by learning the automations and systems that will maintain our competitive edge. There’s no avoiding this shift.
This is our chance to adapt and become essential in ways AI can’t replicate. AI can automate tasks, but it lacks emotional intelligence, creativity, and critical thinking, the qualities that humans bring to the table. It’s not just about doing a job; it’s about connecting with people, solving unique problems, and finding innovative solutions. This is where a Virtual Assistant who knows how to use AI will thrive.
We need to refine and expand our skill sets to become the irreplaceable human element in an increasingly tech-driven world. AI should be seen as a tool to enhance our work.
Our future is about collaboration with AI, not competition. By leveraging AI, we can scale our own businesses, automate admin tasks, and free up mental bandwidth to focus on high-value work. The possibilities are endless for us to evolve alongside this tech.
The key to staying competitive is embracing change and learning how to leverage AI in our businesses. The sooner we adopt these tools, the better equipped we’ll be to thrive in a world where AI and automation will only continue to grow.
And the greater benefit - we can pass that knowledge on to our clients' businesses - for a nice fee. 😉
